Venice

DCIM\100GOPRO\GOPR0025.JPG

This is a look at one of the back canals in Venice. Ink and watercolor, 9×6, 2/2020

I can’t remember exactly where this image was taken, but it’s from a trip we took back in 2016. Venice is one of my favorite places in Italy, and is certainly my favorite large city there. But there are some caveats- never go in high season, and avoid the main drag from St Mark’s Square to the Rialto bridge. Those areas are almost always completely overrun with tourists. But a block away- in any direction- it’s much more peaceful .

Horsepen Creek

Horsepen Creek

This is a small painting of Horsepen Creek, which runs along the backside of Tybee Island. The “horsepen” for which it’s named was located (if my sources and memory are correct) was a hammock in the area of the Burton 4H center on Lewis Ave where horses were kept in the early days of the island. This one was framed and is being donated to the Tybee Clean Beach fundraiser on March 1, 2020.
